This is about Stacie and Tom's life together in Marquette, Michigan. We moved here in September 2001 with no jobs, and no place to live (except hotels, lol). We love it up here, and in each post you'll read new and old stories about us!

big scary beast

Thanksgiving was nice. My Dad came up with Kathy, but they had to drive through blizzards to get here. We ate ALOT. We took a walk down White Bear road, it was cold that day! They gave us our Christmas present early. It was a huge gift certificate to Northland Furniture and Appliance. We picked out a nice new dishwasher in almond. Next we pick out a new refrigerator, in almond. lol

And we got a big scary beast of a truck. it's an '87 Chevy Blazer. It runs. :)
It's got a glass pack in the muffler, so it's really loud and manly sounding.
This thing is a total yooper-mobile. We tried going through some deep snow with it and it had no problem. So, that's it, that's the truck we got to get us through winter snow.

15 inches

Of pure white, heavy, snow.
That's right, that winter storm warning for 6-8 turned into 15 inches of thick, heavy snow.
Tom got to test out his new snowblower.
We didn't get our road plowed til 9:30am on the 16th and we had to be at work then. We were an hour late. And they still didn't have CR510 plowed when we left either! Our little car almost didn't make it through. But with Tom's expert driving, and handling a car thru deep snow that only 4x4's can drive thru comfortably, we made it in.

So, tonite is Ladies Night, downtown Marquette, here and all the stores stay open late and give away prizes for those who submit their names. It's just for the ladies, because all the men have gone hunting for opening season this week. We do this every year. I'm making Bourbon Hotdogs, and a veggie platter, and Tom is cutting up a cheese, sausage and cracker platter. fun.

roof fixed til summer

Big relief! Tom's stepdad, Steve, fixed our roof to last thru winter hopefully.
We're on a winter storm watch right now for 6-8 inches thru tomorrow. Then snow and snow and snow thru the week and weekend.

We are totally on a mission for a snowblower.
and a cheap 4x4. fun stuff.

monday at work's been slightly slow, except for a few college kids.

what up?

ok, so it's been forever.
but here i am!
what's new...
we're all moved in the new house.
Roof leaks. No roofers in Marquette to work on it. They're all busy doing bigger and better jobs. Next summer we're going to sell some trees off the property and get a whole new roof. YAY.

We put in new carpet in the dining room.
Painted the trim from a hideous country blue to a taupe with a hint of green to it. And the walls in that room will be a darkish green. will post some pics. hopefully soon.
It snowed on Sunday, we got an inch. it was fun.
